ABOUT US

Founded in 2013 by Director, Choreographer and Teacher Kris Crowley, Kinetic School of Performing Arts is an independent performing arts organisation dedicated to developing ambitious, confident and accomplished performers.

From our foundations in Cardiff, Kinetic has grown into a multi-site performing arts organisation working across South Wales, with Theatre Schools, a Musical Theatre Company, Youth Academy and Kinetic Prime for adult performers. Our work spans Cardiff, Newport, RCT, Caerphilly, Bridgend, Penarth and surrounding areas, providing high-quality training and meaningful performance opportunities to performers across a wide range of ages and experience levels.

TRAIN WHILE PERFORMING

At the heart of Kinetic is a simple philosophy:

Train While Performing.

We believe exceptional performers are developed through a combination of high-quality training, practical experience and opportunity.

Our performers are therefore encouraged to put their training into practice from an early stage, developing not only their technical ability but also the confidence, discipline, professionalism, adaptability and stage awareness required to succeed within the performing arts.

Our programme encompasses Drama, Dance, Singing and Musical Theatre, alongside performance projects, productions, workshops, auditions and industry experiences.

A CULTURE OF PERFORMANCE

Performance is central to the Kinetic experience.

Each year, our performers take part in an extensive programme of productions and projects, ranging from full-scale musical theatre productions and theatrical performances to concerts, festivals, charity events, showcases and collaborative projects.

Kinetic has established relationships with professional venues and organisations across South Wales, with productions and performances taking place at venues including the Wales Millennium Centre & The Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama and other leading performance spaces throughout the region.

Our performers are given the opportunity to experience the complete performance process — from training and rehearsal through to production, technical rehearsal and live performance.

DEVELOPING THE NEXT GENERATION

We are committed to providing more than weekly performing arts classes.

Kinetic aims to create a clear pathway for performers to develop, progress and discover where their talents can take them.

Our students are exposed to a broad range of performance styles, creative disciplines and experiences, allowing them to develop versatility while discovering their own artistic identity.

Alongside our regular training, performers can access productions, auditions, professional workshops, industry opportunities, specialist training and collaborative projects.

We are particularly passionate about creating opportunities that may not otherwise be accessible to young performers and ensuring that talent, ambition and potential are given the platform to develop.

EXCELLENCE THROUGH EXPERIENCE

Kinetic operates with ambition.

Our training environment is energetic, disciplined and performance-focused, with teamwork, commitment, creativity and an endeavour for excellence embedded within our culture.

We maintain high expectations of our performers while ensuring that our training environment remains inclusive, supportive and inspiring.

We want our performers to leave Kinetic not simply as better actors, singers or dancers, but as more confident, resilient, articulate and capable individuals.

Many of our former students continue to pursue opportunities within the performing arts, education and creative industries, while others take the confidence and skills developed at Kinetic into entirely different professional fields.

Whatever their destination, our aim is to ensure every performer leaves with something valuable.

PROFESSIONAL STANDARDS

Our creative and teaching team bring extensive professional and educational experience across their specialist disciplines.

All staff working directly with children and young people are appropriately Enhanced DBS checked and trained in safeguarding, with robust safeguarding procedures operating across our schools, rehearsals, productions and performance activity.

We also maintain trained First Aiders across our programmes and ensure appropriate procedures are in place to support the safety and wellbeing of every performer.

A GROWING PERFORMING ARTS ORGANISATION

Today, Kinetic continues to expand its reach and ambition across South Wales.

From our youngest Minis taking their first steps onto the stage, through to developing performers, advanced training programmes and our adult Kinetic Prime company, our organisation is built around one shared belief:

Everyone deserves the opportunity to perform.

We are proud of where Kinetic has come from, but even more excited about where we are going.

As we continue to develop new schools, productions, partnerships and industry opportunities, our ambition remains clear:

To provide exceptional training.
To create extraordinary performance opportunities.
To develop the performers of tomorrow.
